MOONSTONE PROJECT signs worldwide deal with BLISTERING RECORDS


Blistering Records is thrilled to announce the worldwide signing of Italian based classic rock supergroup,  Moonstone Project & their dynamic bluesy new release, Rebel On The Run.
It features the amazing voice of James Christian ( House Of Lords ) on all but one track. That 11th track happens to be "Closer Than You Think," a soulful original written & performed by the voice of rock himself, Glenn Hughes ( Deep Purple/Black Sabbath )! 
On the spontaneous creation of the Hughes cut, Moonstone founder/guitarist Matt Filippini recalls: 

"Closer Than You Think is a beautiful gift from Glenn. He wrote that magical piece while I was at his house in LA. We were watching TV in his living room & suddenly he ran into his studio, picked up his guitar & 5 minutes later the song was born!" 

This vibe of immediate cosmic generation permeates the album, though with 2 years of blood sweat & tears in the production, no detail was left unpolished on this labour of love. 

While the predecessor to this release,  Hidden In Time has become a re-issued collectible favorite in the neo-classic rock underground that album related more the "Project" part of the group's name, with 10 different singers & 20 musicians collaborating!  Rebel On The Run has an intentionally more consistent "band" feel. But fret not, there are still plenty of stunning guest appearances from hard rock royalty  Ian Paice  ( DEEP PURPLE ) & Clive Bunker ( JETHRO TULL ) on drums to legendary Hammond organ maestro, Ken Hensley ( Uriah Heep ) adding his distinct, wild keyboard flourishes! Lead vocalist James Christian's wife, solo artist  Robin Beck  also layers many unique backing vocals into the colorful fabric of this warm recording.  

The masterminds behind the ambitious operation are guitarist  Matt Filippini & his co-writing/producing studio wizard keyboardist,  Alessandro Del Vecchio . The music is solidified by the powerful Moonstone bassist Nik Mazzucconi , U.D.O. drummer Francesco Jovino, live drummer, Alex Mori  & backing singer Roberto Tiranti ( Labyrinth ).


Spring & summer concerts to support the album are already being announced starring  Glenn Hughes as well as a festival & fall tour featuring former Rainbow/Yngwie Malmsteen crooner, Doogie White ! MATT'S SESSION WITH ROCKSTARS!

Matt Filippini recorded guitars for a russian band called Pushking for their upcoming album, The World As We Love It. Matt plays on the song Private Own (which features Glenn Hughes on vocals).

The list of rockstars featuring on this album is quite impressive! Alice Cooper, Glenn Hughes, Steve Lukather, Joe Bonamassa, Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner, Stevie Salas, John Lawton, Jorn Lande, Keri Kelli, Jeff Scott Soto, Eric Martin, Dan MCCafferty, UDO and of course....Matt! :-)

The album is gonna be produced by famous LA based producer Fabrizio Grossi.

JAMMING WITH BLUE OYSTER CULT!

Yesterday night, September 17, legendary New York rockers Blue Oyster Cult played in Milan @ the Live Club. Matt joined them for a jam on their song "Then Came The Last Days Of May" (from their 1st 1972 album ).  They played an extended 10 minutes version!

Matt says: "What can I say about that? Joining one of my all time favorite bands for a song It's just another dream for me..When I walked the stage I felt like a child in a toys shop!! I wanna thank my friend Eric Bloom for inviting me...God bless you Eric! All the guys are not only AMAZING musicians but the best people too! Thanks Eric, Buck, Richie, Rudy & Jules!"

The new Moonstone Project album has been mixed in June by Matt & Ale Del Vecchio. Matt is 100% happy of the final result; he says: "Working with my buddy Ale has been great...the songs sound in a very natural way, the overall sound reminds me of the great records from the 70s and i'm so happy about the songwriting! I really think me & Ale wrote some little hard rocking bluesy gems...Looking forward to see it released". There isn't a release date yet as the management is working these days on a deal. FIRST ALBUM REISSUE

Press Release / Moonstone Project - Hidden In Time is going to be released in May 2008 on Mausoleum Records ; it's not a brand new studio album but a revamped reissue of the debut album, originally released as Time To Take A Stand back in 2006.
That new enhanced edition, with a new title, will also feature a brand new artwork by Rainer Kalwitz , already known for his works for Century Media, Metal Blade, Frontiers & more. And a part of 9 tracks featuring guests like Graham Bonnet, Carmine Appice, Steve Walsh, Eric Bloom, Tony Franklin and more, the new release features three bonus tracks featuring Deep Purple men Ian Paice and Glenn Hughes !
Guitarist Matt Filippini says: "It's useless to hide what happened with my old management and old record company. They both contributed to fuck all the things about my 1st album...so it didn't get the right exposure I think it would deserve! Not to speak about the huge loss of money I had for their faults! And it's a pity cuz everyday lots of guys write me to ask where to find the album... Luckily enough my new management did believe in the project and the chance to re-release it again with a brand new package and bonus material. And here it is…while waiting for the new studio album release!"
About the new studio album, yet untitled, Matt is working with his buddy and co-producer Alex Del Vecchio on the final sessions before to start the mix process in June. All the guests taking part and more details to be announced soon. The release is scheduled for winter 2008.

"Oh my God....It's been a long time since my last time on stage...it was in 2007 with my band + Carmine Appice....Last week I played a show in Tirana, Albania and it was just one of the highlights of my career....the people is great, my band (Rob, Nik & Ale) are just the best people you can ask for and playing with Ian Paice is always fun....we played in front an amazing crowd, they're just crazy and recharged my spirit and my passion for music....lotsa great vibes and funny situations....also some scary one! MESSAGE FROM MATT !

After a long time, some update...here's a message from Matt:

"Hi everyone!

I'm currently completing the second Moonstone Project album with my buddy Alessandro Del Vecchio! Alessandro is the man...the boss behind the desk! We wrote 10 strong songs together and this new album is gonna be a real rocker....stronger and more focused than the 1st one. Having an experienced producer as Ale is...writing songs with him...is a totally different story. These days i'm completing the guitar solos while Ale is working ..boards...Hopefully will have the master in my hands soon. I still hope in a 2008 release, maybe late Oct....Of course the album will feature some cool surprise. More about it soon!

The first Moonstone album is gonna to be released again soon (May/June) with a different artwork + a little photobooklet + 3 bonus tracks. My manager Wim worked hard to find a new home for it after the Majestic Rock/Old management disaster! More details soon.

There's a bunch of shows comin' in....Albania wih Paicey, a couple of  shows as support act for Glenn Hughes & his band. And possibly some show playing again with Glenny. 2008 is gonna be a quiet year concerwise due to the new baby's production! Anyway...see you somewhere soon.

IAN PAICE's Birthday party & more!

On June 29th, Matt & his band played a very special show in Montodine, Italy in front of a 3000 crowd to celebrate Ian Paice's birthday. After the show a big cream cake for the band and about 50 lucky fans!! A lot of fun as you can see in the photo above (courtesy of Daniele Purrone at www.stargazer.it)

Now for Matt is time to keep on working on the 2nd Moonstone Project album. According to him "It's gonna be a kick ass album with a more band sound". Announced guests are Ian Paice and Clive Bunker (Jethro Tull) on drums. The whole album is gonna be sung by one great singer to be announced soon.

A message from Matt:

"I'm back home after 2 weeks spent together with Glenn Hughes, playing around Italy. What can I say? It has been my strongest musical experience. Glenn is a real brother to me, I love him and during these days he gave me lotsa things...love, suggestions, tips, laughts, jokes, music...it's an unbelieveble guy...we played some different venues: from the 10.000 people festival to the 200 people small club & everytime, when on stage, he is just 100%. Never felt so comfortable on stage before. Thank u Glenn, I love u. I wanna thank also my wonderful band...Ramon, Alessandro, Marco & Nik...i'm a lucky musician with such a band. You kick ass guys.

Now it's time to rest a bit & keep on working on the 2nd Moonstone album. I think it's gonna kick ass!

Message from Matt - Various Updates

"Hi good people!

I had a fantastic 2007 start with 5 gigs with Ian Paice and 3 gigs of Moonstone Project supporting House Of Lords.

The 2 spanish gigs with Paicey were absolutely great: great venues, great promoter (thanks Robert!), great new friends and fantastic crowd: Spain you rock! I really hope to play there again soon!

Then we played 2 italian shows in February, probably the best shows with Ian so far; really strong gigs. I think I will play again with Paicey this summer.

What about touring with House Of Lords? James Christian and the guys are fantastic human beings, a pleasure to work with….we were like a touring family. What about the show? We had about 45 minutes per night and, in spite of acoustic/technical problems, we showcased the “Time To Take A Stand” album with a lot of fun & improvisations. I want to thank the band that played with me: Alessandro, Rob, Nik & Alex…you are the best of guys and I feel lucky to play with you.

Now I'm looking forward to the shows I will play with Glenn Hughes next May…in these days we're talking about the set-list…of course full of Hughes classics…and a bit of Moonstone;-) I hope to see u there.

I thank u for the precious support. I feel it. I really look forward to complete the new Moonstone album soon....

Totally amazing. I want to express my gratitude to Ian and to my band: Roberto, Nik & Ale....you're just the best guys to work with!".

After the sessions with Ian Paice (September 2005), Matt recorded two new songs with the legendary CLIVE BUNKER (Jethro Tull, Uli John Roth,...). Says Matt:"Wow...we had a great recording session with Clive on July 9th...Mr.Bunker is totally amazing and he did the job with an amazing passion! Glad to have another monster drummer on my next cd. Everytime it's exciting to play Deep Purple stuff, being such a fan of this band....A lot of fun on & off stage with Ian (as usual a true gentleman!!!) in top form! Thanks to Paicey, all the guys of the band & everyone I met on the road! We had a great time! Also I met with the guys from Majestic Rock, my record company....we spent a lot of time talking about the release of the Moonstone album...2006 will bring you some serious rock'n'roll!!! Matt"
